We had a great time in London last week! Our annual photography trip to the capital is one I always look forward to. I had the pleasure of being joined by Frank, Sophie, Lyn, Steve and Jeremy for a great weekend of photography and fun.
On day one we met our fantastic model, Leanna, and spent the day photographing her around the city using everything from natural light to flash. We started at the skate park at the end of the South Bank. We don’t have much graffiti in Guernsey so it’s always nice to photograph backgrounds that are a bit different. We started with natural light and a reflector and worked up to a two light off camera flash setup.
Next we went to the Houses of Parliament and the Millennium Bridge. It’s great to photograph fashion is a public street area, lots of people stopped and took pics on their phones and found it all very interesting, not many minded that we blocked off part of the walkway :). After lunch we finished off around the back streets of Shoreditch, the backdrops were more grungy and gave us a great look to contrast with Leanna.
Later in the evening we photographed around the London Eye and Parliament again, this time using our tripods for some low light photography. Using long exposures of a minute and upwards it looks like the London Eye is going pretty quickly
The evening finished after sunset when we moved to Covent Garden for a very late lunch and a drink.
Day two was all about street photography, and as you can see by the pics it was a little wet! We had a few cafe stops to discuss tactics, we used slow shutter speeds in the daytime to add some interesting movement to the pictures.
We’re working hard on planning next years trip, somewhere different with a more continental feel
Here’s a selection of pictures from everyone (I’m waiting for a few more which I’ll add soon). Big thanks to everyone for coming and to our fab model Leanna!
