This weekend saw the return of the Creative Photograpy v Colin Cruckshank Photography (Jsy) photographic inter insular! Colin is a great chap and and invited me over to Jersey recently for a few days of photography, swap a few ideas and generally talk photography all weekend!
I lined up a few shoots to keep us busy during the weekend starting with a studio shoot with Shanine! It’s never a long session as Shanine always turns up looking great and nails the poses every time! No point carrying on if you have the shots!! Shanine is a photographer and works with me on weddings, she also she does fantastic makeovers and made up the model on the front of the new Gallery magazine! Multi talented!
Next up was an early morning landscape! We went to the bathing pools and Martin Dean joined us for a few pics and brekkie afterwards at the half moon cafe! An interesting shoot as I’d checked the tide tables and was certain high tide was around quarter past seven. Martin noticed the tide appeared to be going down before the time I’d mentioned! A quick check on the phone and high tide was indeed half an hour earlier! At least we knew the time of high tide on Sunday!!! The important thing is the light was good!
Later on Saturday Gemma Prevel was kind enough to come down to the studio for a shoot (complete with rollers)! Gemma nipped out for a fag break and I had an idea to photograph her with ciggie in mouth! It’s good to reveal something about your sitter in a picture, this one certainly does! Gemma is not a fan of smiley pics, her moody look is fantastic though!
The next morning we went down to Moulin Huet for some more sea scape action! It was a great sunrise but the image I picked for this post was an abstract image of the sea swirling around the rocks. One large rogue wave soaked Martin as he was shooting, I put this down to karma evening things out after the ribbing I received after my minor infringement re tide tables!! Fortunately Martin’s camera didn’t get wet!
The final shoot involved Leanne Oliver, we visited the harbour and shot some interesting pictures, then on to the Guet as it was very windy. Leanne has long hair and finding shelter helped keep her locks from blowing across her face! It was a bit nippy towards the end but Leanne never complains…………….. (giving me ear ache is some kind of revenge).
I can’t wait for the next installment in Jersey 2012.
